I Wish You The Best

I wrote this for Kate Meehan quite a few years ago when I recorded her first CD and I've always wanted to do it, but she sang the original version so well, that I didn't stand a chance of matching it, but I came up with the new groove and all of a sudden it was a new song that I COULD sing. I had no idea what to do for the solo, so I got out the wah-wah pedal and it worked like a treat. Thanks Jimi!

I wish you the best, the best of everything (X 2)
Cos when you walked out with that man on the end of your arm
I wish you the best, I don’t wish you no harm
I hope for the best, I don’t wish you no harm

I wish you the best funeral and sooner not later

I hope for a fair trial with a crime investigator
I pray for the best cell when you’re sentenced by the judge
As long as you know, honey, that I don’t hold a grudge.

I hope the man you marry, runs away with his best man
I hope your mother-in-law stays, until the bitter end
I hope you win first prize, to Alaska for the winter
Just as long as you know that baby I’m not bitter.

I hope you take a good photo for your mug shot down at the station
I hope you get rosy cheeks from the effects of radiation
I hope you invent a cure for which there is no disease
Just as long as you know honey, I don't wish you misery.
